Trichocereus pupureopilosus fruit     10/19/21

The ruler is there for you to get the scale. You're looking at a few thousands of seeds. I finally have so many seeds of this plant, one of my favorites, that I allowed myself to eat a fruit. Not bad. Good, actually. I think I'll grow a bunch more so that I can regularly eat the fruit. I can't figure out how it is that these small seeds actually add a crunchy texture to the sweet fruit pulp. Since I wanted reliably ripe seeds, I didn't harvest the fruit until they split. This is a usually foolproof indication of a cactus fruit's ripeness. There are species which never split open their fruit at ripeness.
