Echinocereus ("red hybrid") ripe fruit     6/19/21
I somehow managed to make three fruit from the three red flowers that bloomed very early this year. Unfortunately, I can't remember what I crossed those three with, but, no matter. I can breed any offspring back into this plant and stabilize the red flower genes, I think. (Yes, I know. Memory always fails. That's why writing is useful.) Echinocereus fruit typically stay shaggy as they ripen. When ripe, the spines just brush away. The red fruit is showing the shedding of its spines. I have since isolated the seeds from these three fruit - 2,270 seeds.   (48/48)
