Echinocereus reichenbachii perbellus purpureus DJF1331 MG250.742     6/11/21
This is a very typical example of this widespread species. I think that Mesa Garden has about 60 catalog numbers, samples of various populations in Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico. It's reliably cold hardy, even the Mexican plants. It also seems to be receptive to hybridization, so I'm starting to mess with it. The Germans pointed out to me that a characteristic of the species is that its flowers have a red zone at their bases. The pot is 2.5" (6 cm).   (27/48)
