Not a cactus, but a South African mesemb. The plant has flowered twice for me in the past year. It's a leaf succulent (cacti are stem succulents) that generates completely new leaves (incorrectly thought of as "bodies") every year. So if your resident plague of pack rats has defaced the plant by eating of it, you get a new pretty plant at some point within a year. I have several dozen cacti which hungry pack rats have chewed on in the winter. It will take many years, if ever, for these scars to disappear due to apical growth.   (23/32)
