Note the similarity of flower and plant shape to Lobivia haematantha, above. Maybe you could be persuaded to agree with me that L. haematantha is better named Echinopsis. There have been Lobivia flowers in previous galleries. Of course, the great arch lumper, David Hunt, has pooled Echinopsis, Lobivia, and Trichocereus in his “The New Cactus Lexicon,” which makes my arguments moot. The original “Cactus Lexicon” was written about 40 years ago by maybe the most enthusiastic splitter of all time, Curt Backeberg.   (08/40)
