Echinocereus pectinatus wenigeri 'ctenoides' L704 MG191.36     5/15/22
This beautiful plant has a false name. And when I tell you why I think so, you might believe me. This plant has 44 chromosomes (2n = 44). It is tetraploid. It can't possibly breed with any member of the population called Echinocereus pectinatus or Echinocereus pectinatus wenigeri. All those plants are diploid. (22 chromosomes. 2n = 22) It should be called something else, and I recommend "Echinocereus ctenoides."   (29/56)
