Another new plant for me this year. I may have discovered the one central spine, nine radial spines pattern that show up in my many hybrids of this genus. Don't be misled. I've never owned this plant when I made my many hybrids. My observation is just an allusion to the source in the genus of the 1/9 pattern. The whole point of a genus is that there is an ancestral plant that originated the succeeding many individual species. And I don't mean to assert that this is the original Echinocereus, just that the 1/9 pattern seems to be here naturally. The pot is 2.5 in (6 cm) on a side.   (40/88)
