Echinocereus reichenbachii SB941 MG250     6/24/18
The German society "Friend of Echinocereus" (Echinocereenfreund) puts out excellent books highlighting subsections of the genus from time to time. One book on E. reichenbachii pointed out that one can always tell reichenbachii because of the red basal color in the flowers. This is the first reichenbachii that I've seen which disobeys this dictum. Actually, I fished around the base of the flower and found a hint of a red blush, but nothing like every other reichenbachii I've seen. Pretty plant, in any case. The spines are pure white.   (35/40)
